Description: Item: 1950s black leather car coat with a double-breasted front, belted waist and wide lapels. Mid-century cut with a longer line through the body, finished with a warm wool lining and cuff straps. Supple leather with a naturally broken-in handle, built as a true outer coat rather than a lightweight jacket. Leather remains supple with attractive natural creasing and no cracking or structural issues; belt present and functional; lining intact; buttons secure. Provenance Note: This is a proper mid-century leather car coat, the kind worn for driving, travel and everyday city use in the post-war years. The belted double-breasted cut is firmly of the period, practical but quietly imposing, and increasingly hard to find complete.
